Hello, everyone! I am truly enjoying my time in Dominica. I will be
here for the next 16 months as a student of Ross University School of Medicine
(RossU), and I am anticipating a wonderful experience on this beautiful
Caribbean island!
On April 23, 2013, I flew into the Melville Hall Airport. My flight was
wonderful and memorable from the time I left San Juan, Puerto Rico to my
landing at the airport! Riding from the airport to Portsmouth, where RossU is
located, I was able to take a small snapshot of all the beauty that Dominica
had to offer. This island is flowing with coconut trees, rivers, and great
seaside views! In fact, you will have to visit Dominica at least 1 year to
explore all of its 365 rivers for every day of the year, including the Indian
River, where part of the Pirates of Caribbean movie was filmed!!!

After about a 45 minute drive, my classmates and I arrived at RossU!
The Letter…
Late in the afternoon on Thursday, April 25, 2013, I received an
interesting email that made me glow from the inside out that was responding to
an email that I had sent to His Excellency Eliud Thaddeus Williams, President
of Dominica, thanking him and the citizens of Dominica for the opportunity to
study medicine in their great country! The email was from the Office of His
Excellency Eliud Thaddeus Williams, President of Dominica!!! The contents
acknowledged receipt of my email, welcomed me to Dominica, applauded me for my
past accomplishments, and stated that the President and his wife look forward
to meeting me at the RossU White Coat Ceremony on Friday, May 10, 2013!!! Wow, I
was lost for words (everyone who has been acquainted with me knows that doesn’t
happen to me very often)! Here I am in this great country in the Caribbean that
is saturated with wonderful, loving people and pursuing a God-given opportunity
to become a physician. Isn’t God great?!?
More experiences coming later…
