DAY 2: KICKIN’ THE HABIT!

It’s Day #2 of my weight-loss journey, and I am already feeling the urge to revert back to my old ways. Doesn’t that always seem to happen? As soon as you make up your mind to do something different, old habits try to kick back in your thoughts. For instance, when I went grocery shopping today, all of the pastries and comfort food seemed to whisper my name as I pushed my cart. They told me that they missed me already and wanted to be friends again.

It seems like a force greater than yourself tugs at the inner strings that are connected to all of your desires. For me, the very temptation of reverting back makes me feel guilty, ashamed and weak. Has this ever happened to you? You start something new, and it seems like everything out of the woods come out to attack you.

Despite everything, I will continue to move past those things that do not serve my best interest. Because the desire to achieve my goals and change my life, it is stronger than any temptation to fall back into my old ways. I’m better, stronger, and I have a great support team full of friends, family, and an awesome boyfriend who strengthens me even in my darkest hour.

As, I push past Day #2, I leave you with a poem that I wrote to help remind me of the dangers of old habits. It keeps me focused on my goals, and I hope that it will do the same for you.
