Day 1: JUST START!

The hardest thing to do when changing any part of your life, especially losing weight, is just starting!


Over the past year, when my body and weight scale screamed “help,” I would give myself pep talks about finally starting the journey to getting back to a healthier, more fit me.

If you’ve ever ridden on this seesaw, then you know that it goes similar to this:

Night before- “I’M GOING TO DO THIS!”

Afternoon of next day: “Well…maybe, tomorrow”

Early morning after tomorrow: (as you read the numbers on the scale) “I’M DETERMINED TO DO THIS!”

Next day: “Well…let me just get through this weekend. I’ll start on Monday.”

I’ve been down that road several times on this weight-loss journey. Somehow, that Monday never arrived, and I found myself in this never ending mental battle full of confusion, disappointment and despair.

Eventually, you have to take a stand, and make a decision to just start. 

So, today, I’m ending the battle. No, it’s not Monday but the Friday before a big weekend. No, it’s not early in the morning upon rising but 4:44 pm in the afternoon.  No, I have not gone grocery shopping, and there is nothing stopping me from going to Costco tomorrow. No more excuses and procrastination! I’m winning the war by starting my weight-loss journey, NOW!
